Prof. Dan Bahat - (1 - 13 August)
Professor Bahat, one of Israel's leading archaeologists, has excavated a number of historic sites including Herod's Palace in Jerusalem, the City of David, & the 1,600-foot tunnel which runs under the western retaining wall of the Temple Mount, and he is considered the authority on the history and archaeology of the City of Jerusalem.
Professor Bahat gave lectures on various topics in Pretoria, Johannesburg and Cape Town during August 2005.

The Embassy of Israel and tararam are proud to once again be associated with the annual Standard Bank Joy of Jazz Festival held in Newtown Johannesburg. Israeli Jazz Musician, Albert Beger performed and did outreach workshops and performances during their visit to South Africa.

Rinah Sheleff
Rinah Sheleff is a professional storyteller and movement instructor who hails from Ra'anana, Israel. Her trip to South Africa in September 2005 was organised jointly by the Embassy of Israel and ‘tararam’, the South Africa / Israel Culture Fund.
Ms Sheleff was delighted to share her wonderful talents with teachers as well as take South African children into the wonderful land of imagination with her expertise in the telling of stories during her visit to South Africa.
Rinah gave workshops in storytelling techniques for the classroom teacher, which included methods of memorizing short stories and how to most stimulate the senses of their audiences.

MIAGI (formerly ICMF) once again hosted their annual music festival and including the following musicians from Israel :
Boris Rimmer and Yoni Etzion, on cello and violin as well as the Israeli lute player, Habib Hana. Mr Hana was also be part of a collaboration with Cape Malay musicians in Cape Town.
